1. Ranjha Ranjha Kardi

Where Iqra Aziz proved her versatility and class as Noori, Ranjha Ranjha Kardi also turned out to be the groundbreaking drama for Imran Ashraf who reached new heights of popularity for his performance as Bhola.

Written by Faiza Iftikhar, the drama focused on many social issues including awareness about mental illness, social differences due to caste and status, made up religious practices and of course, a heartwarming love story between Bhola and Noori.

Where Syed Jibran and Kashif Mehmood upped the game as the antagonist in the story, Asma Abbas, Munazzah Arif, and Ammara Butt also played their role to make this story entertaining.

With Kashif Nisar at the helm, Ranjha Ranjha Kardi will always be considered as one of the most iconic serials in the history of Pakistani television.

2. Cheekh

Badar Mehmood’s ‘Cheekh’ did not only make us question certain norms in our society but its engaging and thrilling story also gave us chills at times.

Starring the gorgeous Saba Qamar as Mannat and the talented Bilal Abbas Khan as Wajih, the drama focused on how the affluent elite uses their money and sources to manipulate legal processes surrounding the death of a lower-middle-class girl, Nayab, played by Ushna Shah.

Saba Qamar as Mannat didn’t give up till the end to get justice for Nayab despite facing many hardships and her performances as a strong-headed lady raised the bar high. On the other hand, Bilal Abbas Khan turned out to be the most appealing villain on TV this year; one of the best performances of his career so far.

3. Inkaar

Zafar Mairaj has penned down the engrossing the story of ‘inkaar’ that talks about the plight and suffering of a brave girl Hajra (Yumna Zaidi) who fights against the powerful and corrupt system to get justice for herself.

Where Yumna Zaidi and Sami Khan were absolutely brilliant and shared wonderful on-screen chemistry, seeing Imran Ashraf as the antagonist after Ranjha Ranjha Kardi was no less than a treat.

Where Rehan Sheikh as Hajra’s father was definitely a role model for many, Ali Tahir also managed to grab the spotlight with a powerful court sequence.

What makes ‘Inkaar’ even more appealing is that it doesn’t glamorize the story but makes it more relatable for the viewers with many powerful performances.
