Perry Mason Is Coming Back To The Screens In 2020!
HBO is bringing back the one and only Perry Mason!
HBO has just released its promo for 2020 shows and it reveals the first image of Matthew Rhys playing the titular role of Perry Mason. The fans of the iconic character would be more than happy to see the lawyer on screen, especially after a long time.
The Perry Mason novels were written by Erle Stanley Gardner and were published between 1933 and 1973. They were then adapted for television in 1957 with Raymond Burr playing the lead. He was the eighth actor to play the role but his name became synonymous with the character.
Now Matthew Rhys has joined the league of playing Perry Mason, the ace attorney for HBO’s upcoming series. According to the official Press Release:
“Debuting in 2020, PERRY MASON is set in 1931 Los Angeles. While the rest of the country struggles through the Great Depression, this city is booming! Oil! Olympic Games! Talking Pictures! Evangelical Fervor! And a child kidnapping gone very, very wrong! Based on characters created by Erle Stanley Gardner, this limited series follows the origins of American Fiction’s most legendary criminal defense lawyer, Perry Mason. When the case of the decade breaks down his door, Mason’s relentless pursuit of the truth reveals a fractured city and just maybe, a pathway to redemption for himself.”
