The official twitter account of the show posted that the production of season 2 will begin on August 17 of this year. The Witcher is a fantasy drama that is based on the best-selling novel series of Andrzej Sapkowski.

been apart, it’s time for production to restart. The Witcher and his bard – who’s flawless, Will reunite on
set 17 August.”

The production of the season 2 of Netflix’s show was shut down in March amid the ongoing COVID-19 breakout. It was one of the first major shows filming in the UK to shut down production because actor Kristofer Hivju got infected by COVID-19.
Now, as the world is slowly starting to resume its activities it’s time for Cavil aka ‘Geralt of Rivia’ to slay some nasty beasts and get into the bathtub.
Cavil stars as ‘Geralt of Rivia’ a mutated monster slayer and is joined on screen in lead roles by Anya Chalotra as the sorceress ‘Yennefer of Vengerberg’ and ‘Princess Cintra’ portrayed by Freya Allen. Other major returning and new characters will be joining the cast for season 2.
While the Season 1 story timeline was a bit overlapping in time as the show was trying to introduce the 3 lead characters with their background story. With the way, the first season ended and words from Lauren Schmidt (Executive producer of ‘The Witcher’ Netflix series) ensures that the timeline of Season 2 will follow a structured straightforward narrative.
Initially, it was scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2021, now with the delay of 5 months and restrictions on production due to ongoing COVID-19 situation, there is no set date for the premiere. While there is no official confirmation from Netflix it is still expected to premiere in the second half of 2021.
